We looked at a few more houses this past weekend. We've seen that a 2 story house sees a large chuck of the square footage taken up by the staircase - more than you'd think. Also, the layout matters a lot. A 1300 square foot house might appear to have more space than a 1500 square foot house if the design is bad.

I added a new site to the Interesting Sites page, Pandora Internet Radio. I know it's been done before, but I like this one. I've got a few songs and groups I've either never heard before or never thought to listen to. Make your own station and pick what groups and songs play on it by voting up or down.

OK, I'm finally well (have been for a few weeks). I've been putting in a lot of OT at work, so I haven't been able to update. And update, I DO have!

We're house-hunting! We've put together a nice downpayment and with our excellent credit, we'll qualify for a great loan. It's just a matter of finding the right place. We're making it hard on our realtor because we're not your typical first time home buyers. I've been living on my own since 1995 so I've acquired a lot of stuff (large bed and matching dresser, large computer desk, 2 large bookshelves, large TV, coffee, 2 end tables). Mrs. splorp! and I have acquired additional stuff (kitchen table and 4 chairs, couch and love seat, second computer desk, smaller TV, a much larger TV, stereo rack, 2 CD
storage units). In other words, we got a lot of stuffs and need a house large enough to store it. Oh, and we have Harley Quinn and his gigantic cage, too.

Adding to that is our laundry list of requirements, including a bedroom large enough to hold our bedroom furniture (8' long and 7' wide) plus the dresser, as well as the house not being too close to a railway, a highway or be on a busy street and no freakin' pool. Some of you might think "Hey! A pool would be great!" You would be the people who have never taken care of a pool yourself. My 'rents have a pool. I can go visit it. (Kinda like my nephews- fine in small doses and when we're done, we go home).

So, wish us luck and if you know of anything in eastern Ventura County (LA County is out), I'd be happy to take a look.
