I am sick, again. I'm not doing anything that should be weakening my immune system, but this is my 3rd cold in 3 months. The first two had me down for two weeks each. Hopefully, this one will be less. I'm not coughing, it's just congestion. I can't sleep anywhere near through the whole night. ::sigh::
I ran into this in Google Images: Splorp, the Penguin. It's not me. I'm taller and not quite as round.
My father-in-law (Dave aka DeadAgain of Deadz Zone) now has his own domain name for his blog over at Blogger courtesy of yours truly. I thought he'd enjoy it.
I know I haven't posted in a while, but I was sick and then I started putting in overtime, again. So, I'm sick, again. Been sick since last Monday. I think I got something like 15 hours of sleep last week. Head congestion, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, body aches, fever... all the good stuff. I've blown my nose so many times that I am bleeding. Ouch.
So, anyway, been working a bunch, again. This is good and bad. Good, because I get OT pay and it means it's busy, which gives job security. Bad because it starts to wear on you, working upwards of 50 hours a week. Good, because Mrs. splorp! and I are putting away the extra money into our house fund. Bad, because it becomes hard to focus when you're sick and tired (and not the sick and tired you hear when someone says "I am sick and tired of blah blah," the literal I have a bad cold and I am really tired).
On another topic, we've been watching the house prices drop to a more reasonable level. If the government would stop bailing out the idiots who bought more house than they could afford or who signed on with a stupid loan (PayOption Arm is, by definition, a stupid loan), it would help those values drop more quickly to the level at which they should be. We're not quite ready to buy, but we're getting closer. Credit scores, check. Housing prices, almost there. Downpayment, mostly there. Next up, find a buyer's agent, a house and get pre-approved.
I added my father in law's blog to my People list. Dave enjoys running his Quake 4 demo. A lot. Don't mess with Dave or he may embarass you with a hand weapon. I'd rather be killed by a rocket grenade.
Lastly for today, I found a new Interesting Site. It allows you to fill out a template provided by YourFonts, character by character, then scan the file and upload to their site. It then generates a TrueType Font file you can install on your system. I figure it's mostly an ego thing, but I thought it was pretty cool to type and see my own handwriting:
