A friend of mine got me an autographed comic a long time back (about 10 years, I think). Bill Morrison has worked with Matt Groening, of The Simpsons fame.
At an X-Files convention in Burbank in 1996, I got a few pretty cool autographs.
The first is Charles Nelson Reilly, portraying Jose Chung in my favorite X-Files episode, "Jose Chung's From Outer Space."
The next is Peter Boyle, better known more recently as Ray's dad on "Everybody Loves Raymond" and in the past as Frankenstein's monster in Mel Brooks' classic "Young Frankenstein." This is him as the psychic, Clyde Bruckman in " Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose."
And now, the pièce de résistance... The press kit for the initial VHS X-Files episode and the Songs in the Key of X CD, autographed by a large number of cast and crew, including Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and even the creator of the theme, Mark Snow.
How did I manage to get it? I used to hang around (a lot) in the X-Files chatroom on AOL and met members of the editing department. They brought the press kit to an X-Files Christmas party and had everyone sign it. We arranged to meet at the X-Files convention I mentioned above where I wrote a large check (none of your business) to claim it as my own.
